Each of these gives you a single attempt at a puzzle that is identical for everyone playing that day. Finish it and you get a small grid you can post, which shows how you did without spoiling the answer for anyone who has not played yet.
The three test different things. Daily Word is vocabulary and deduction, six guesses to find the word at four, five or six letters. Split Test is spatial judgement: five asymmetric shapes, one cut each, as close to an even division of area as you can manage. Colour Match is perception: five colours to reproduce by eye, scored on how far off you were in units your eye can actually see.
Completing any daily counts toward your streak, and Today's Bench pulls one of them into its three-game circuit. Every daily also has a practice mode with unlimited random puzzles that never touches your daily record, so you can warm up or keep playing after the day's attempt is spent.
| Game | Tests | Attempt | Share grid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily Word | Vocabulary, deduction | Six guesses | Green, yellow, grey rows |
| Split Test | Area judgement | Five cuts | One square per cut |
| Colour Match | Colour discrimination | Five swatches | One square per swatch |
Common questions
When does the puzzle change?
At midnight in your local time zone. Everyone in the same time zone gets the same puzzle on the same calendar day.
Can I replay a daily?
No. Each daily is one attempt, which is what makes the result worth sharing. Every daily has a practice mode with unlimited random puzzles if you want to keep going.
Do the dailies count toward my streak?
Yes. Finishing any daily keeps the streak alive, win or lose. Practice does not.
What is in the share grid?
Coloured squares showing how each guess, cut or swatch went, plus your score and the day's number. It never contains the answer, so it is safe to post before others have played.
Why is Colour Match different across my devices?
Screens show colours differently, so a daily colour result is only really comparable between people on similar displays. The other two dailies do not have this problem.
