Easter Word Search

14 Easter words hidden in eight directions. Drag across the letters to select.

How word searches work

The Easter list mixes the spring imagery people expect — tulips, lambs, a sunrise — with the trappings of the day itself: baskets, bonnets and a chocolate haul. It is one of the friendlier themed grids because nearly every word is something a child could name, which makes it a good choice for a classroom or a rainy holiday afternoon.

CHOCOLATE and DAFFODIL are the long anchors. At nine and eight letters they have very few legal placements on a twelve by twelve board, so finding either one early strips out a large part of the remaining search.

The grid regenerates every time you load the page, so the same theme never gives you the same arrangement twice. Words run in all eight directions including backwards and diagonally, and your fastest completion time for each grid size is saved in your browser.

How to find words faster

  • Find the longest Easter words first. CHOCOLATE is the longest entry at 9 letters, and long words have far fewer possible placements than short ones. Clearing them early removes a disproportionate share of the grid.
  • Target the uncommon letters in this list. The rare letters present here are K, W, Y. Each one appears only a handful of times in the random filler, so finding the letter usually hands you the word.
  • Leave LAMB until last. At 4 letters it is the shortest entry, which means it has the most possible positions on the grid and hides best. Short words are always the least efficient thing to hunt first.
  • Read every candidate in both directions. Roughly half the placements in any grid are reversed. If an area looks empty, try reading it backwards before moving on.

Frequently asked questions

How many Easter words are in this puzzle?

Fourteen, covering the holiday itself and the spring season around it. On the ten by ten grid one or two of the longest may not fit, in which case the word list only shows the ones actually placed.

Is this Easter word search suitable for children?

The vocabulary is simple enough for most primary-age readers, and the ten by ten grid is the gentlest starting point. The puzzle is built for a general audience rather than specifically for children, so there is no child-directed content on the page.

Can I print this Easter word search?

There is no print layout, because the grid is generated fresh on every load and the game is meant to be played by dragging across the letters. Playing in the browser gives you the timer, the completion tracker and a saved best time.
