What this test measures
A full minute is an endurance test, not a speed test. Almost nobody finishes at the rate they started, and the score is really a measure of how gracefully your rate decays rather than how high it peaks.
Pacing matters more than raw speed here. Starting at your maximum guarantees a steep decline by twenty seconds, and most people produce a higher total by opening at roughly 80 percent of their burst rate and holding it. Alternating thumbs helps considerably, since it distributes the work across two muscles.
Typical results land between 4.5 and 5.5 presses per second, well below the same person's five second score. Above 7 across a full minute is exceptional.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good 60 second spacebar score?
Typical is 4.5 – 5.5 presses per second over 60 seconds, and 7+ is a good result. Those numbers apply to this duration only.
How many presses is that in 60 seconds?
At the typical rate, roughly 270 to 330 presses across the full run.
Should I alternate thumbs on a 60 second run?
Yes. Over this length a single thumb fatigues well before the end, and distributing the work across two is worth roughly a full press per second.
